love poem – ice and fire

by Max Nelson on October 1, 2015

The moon is not so bright as you,
The sun perhaps no higher,
A moth a bouncing earnest fool
The butterfly a liar.
Snakes stand Heros in your glare;
Dragons cower
Bluebirds seem as gloomy things
Owl a twittering sparrow
Snow is warm compared to you,
In your eyes I find my pyre
For you are everything to me
You are my ice and fire.
